A major & faithful remaster of a steampunk, wild west themed SNES shooter.
The graphics & sounds have been updated, two new characters & stages have been added, the play area has been widened for modern monitors, and more added features. The only things they removed are the Bonus Stages and the VS. mode, which were both just bare-bones shooting gallery mini-games anyway.

Comparing the graphics and such to the SNES, it's a vast improvement, or at the very least, more detailed. The music has been rearranged. If you prefer the classic sounds & music of the SNES version, you can unlock that option when you beat the game on any difficulty without using continues. The game plays well on both a controller and keyboard due to how minimal the controls were even on the original.

The general premise is incredibly simplistic, survive against waves of enemies until the time runs out, beat a mini-boss or two, and then eventually fight the end-stage boss. The faster/more you shoot down enemies, the faster the time runs out. It can get incredibly hectic if you don't shoot down enemies fast enough and this is especially the case on Hard mode.
Each stage only takes around 5 minutes to beat if you survive and there are only 6 total per playthrough, so finishing the game at the shortest takes around 30 minutes. There's no saving in between playthroughs so you'll have to dedicate a bit of time in completing the game as soon as you start. You get a few lives at the start and you get a 1UP for every 100,000 points you earn. You die in a single hit so dodging obviously becomes key. If you're confident, you can actually shoot enemy bullets with your own which can fill up a meter that allows you to be invincible for a short time. Losing all your lives in a stage means you'll have to restart that particular stage from the beginning, however you get an infinite amount of continues.

There are 4 characters to choose from; Clint, Annie, Doris, and Bullet.
Clint and Annie are the standard, original characters from the SNES version and in terms of how they play, they're not at all different from one another, pretty much making there only be 3 characters available.
Instead of using guns like the other characters, Doris just throws grenades, which do the most damage when used right. Holding the fire button allows her to charge up for more grenades to be thrown, but that doesn't necessarily mean more damage, however it does multiply her score the more she's got ready for throwing. She's the slowest character for obvious reasons but is also the fastest if you make use of her "dodging".
Bullet is a dog who uses a sort-of auto-aiming drone. He's probably the easiest to use because of that and his ability to move and shoot.

This genre of arcade-y gallery shooters is pretty unique. It's not exactly an on-rails shooter either as the Steam tag says, but rather a "Cabal shooter", thanks to a game of the same name that popularized this kind of gameplay. You can't move the character and crosshair individually and you can't shoot & move your character around either. You can move your crosshair while you're firing but you'll have to stay still until you stop firing. Bullet, the dog, is the only exception to all these rules. Because of this kind of gameplay, it can get a bit infuriating to get the hang of. At the same time, it makes it that much more of a skill-based game, testing you on how well you can play with its intended flaws.
There are a lot of i-frame options in the game with the most obvious one being the dodge ability, which is pretty long in itself but also has a relatively lengthy recovery time to offset that. Things that are less obvious for example are when you pick up & throw enemy dynamite and when you melee an up-close enemy. Doris' dodging has no i-frames whatsoever to balance out her fast sidestepping, so alternatives like jumping and simply moving out of the way are required.

There are 3 difficulty settings; Easy, Normal, and Hard. Hard is locked until you beat the game at least once. Each playthrough, regardless of difficulty, you go through a first stage, then a selection of 4 stages to do in any order you want, and then a final stage. For whatever reason though, they change the stages up depending on what difficulty you choose. Playing on Easy allows you to play the 4 original SNES stages during the stage select. On Normal, one stage is replaced for a new one. On Hard, another is replaced so there'd be 2 original stages and 2 new stages. So instead of being able to play all stages in every difficulty, or on Hard at least, they decided to keep the "4 stages to select" thing throughout the entire game.

A possibly major downside to this game is the multiplayer. It's local only, which is a shame because the game now features multiplayer of up to 4 players. The difficulties are also tied to how many players there are and is possibly made harder thanks to all players sharing lives.

The short playthroughs allow for easy replayability, which can also mean little time invested in the game. The only reasons to replay the game are to try out the different characters, go for the achievements, and just overall get better. Enemies spawn in patterns and their attacks are telegraphed, so it's possible to get that much better at the game in a short amount of time. You get a multiplier for most of the characters if you just stay still and shoot, like a risk & reward kind of deal for those who want the highest scores. There aren't any actual rewards aside maybe from unlocking the SNES sounds & music. You get a new color palette/skin each time you beat the game with specific characters but that's about it.
It's a great single player game if you can manage to work with this kind of gameplay, but is probably not worth $20 for such relatively little content.. Wild Guns Reloaded. Showing how successful is the mixture between western cowboys and steampunk since 1994, and geez... it's still as relentless as ever! And even better? Two new characters (Doris and Bullet) and two new stages. I experienced the Underground, and that level was determined to kick my rear! Doris was my savior in that stage, destroying almost anything, but that boss... that was quite difficult!

Okay, do I recommend it? Yes, I do, but keep in mind that this game will kick your rear if you're not up to snuff, so grab your handguns, or your shotgun, or your mortar grenades, or your combat droid and dog, and go and kick the steampunk wild west! For great justice!. Really great package here. Amazing graphics/sound design. The gameplay is tough as nails yet learnable, and the new characters are really fun to play.. This is a cool, unique shooting game, best for players that want to repeat levels over and over in pursuit of a perfect run. It's worth noting that multiplayer mode doesn't have any continues, so it's not a great couch co-op experience unless everybody playing is extremely good.. Yee-haw I can play as a dog. The original Wild Guns was an arcade styled SNES game that touted its arcade shooter stylings brought directly to the home. It was a short but sweet game that definitely knew how to kick your butt. The two player co-op was a ton of fun and the game was simple enough to play.

Now take an already stellar game and give it probably one of the most faithful remakes I've ever seen. Now this isn't just a simple remaster where they up-rezzed stuff. Natsume plenty of new stuff to this version of the game, including two new wildly different characters and a 4-player co-op mode. They made the levels bigger to suit today's wide screen formats and even gave the enemies and bosses some new tricks as well. The remade soundtrack is basically just a punchier version of the original. (although the original Carson City theme will forever hold a special place in my heart)

The game in actuality is pretty short, being an arcade game, but if this sounds like your jam I'd say it's worth it. It's a blast, and bring a friend or two to cover each other's backs.

Unnecessarily long loading times, horrendous AI, atrocious map design, maxes out my GPU for no reason, and I quit playing because it wouldn't continue after level 1.

Get Painkiller Black Edition, or Painkiller Hell and Damnation if you want to play a good Painkiller game.. It's looked more promising then Redemption, but it's still kind of mediocre and unplayable due to bugs
+ Reasonable amount of enemies, levels look interesting, well-drawn comic cutscenes
- Buggy mess: long loading times, frame drops, placing tarot cards crashes the game, in the ends it refused to launch regardless of re-install. Worst is use of absolutely unreliable physics: super-steep ladders you're not sure you can climb, small holes you might fit or might get stuck in, player or enemies falling out of level boundaries, etc.. One of the buggiest, most insipid, and most uninspired shooters ever conceived. Stay away at all costs from this garbage and play the original.. Let me list the reasons nobody likes this game:
1. technical issues- lighting is awful, collision? what's that?, hitboxes range from small to large with no consistency, fatal error when going into demon mode, fatal error when loading within the last 20 minutes, fatal error on a fatal error (i♥♥♥♥♥♥you not), and no amount of bug fixing can fix this.
2. weapons- slower than previous games, weaker than previous games, one new weapon in ONLY levels 5 and 6 (so you'll never get to use it).
3. story- it's bad, voice "acting" is atrocious and Bill is a hitman that goes to hell because he kills people and must go through and *zzzzzzz*
4. you can't win the tarot cards without cheating- because enemies will frequently not drop souls nor can you find all the gold pieces cause they're out of the map.

Reasons to get this: never

if you do get this cause you hate yourself things that won't make you vomit: soundtrack is good (so youtube it), powermod for this makes the game a bit better (pkcards so all cards and pkweapons so you can use the new gun through the whole game), and the atmosphere is good.

overall: 2/10 one of the worst games i've ever played
with powermod: 4/10 still bad but at least playable.. First impressions of PKO prompted me to get a Refund. PKR had a demo which left a sour taste in my brain. the lack of EVERYTHING in the way of quality testing leaves you with a game feeling thrown together and cheap. This is supposed to be a full production game of a much beloved IP. On this level I crashed soon after on a load point. autosave, crash, load crash. so essentially there was no way past it. I should have known when the Demo was an exact duplicate of the first level in all its horridness. 3/10. So far, Ressurection is the only Painkiller game I just cannot make myself finish, at least at this juncture. I loved the base game and will probably play it for a long time to come, but I can't say the same for this thing.

Same as with Overdose, Resurrection is a fan made product that got enough support for a commercial release. Unfortunately, while Overdose feels well done and has few performance issues, Resurrection plays like an unstable bootleg of the original game. You have all the basic weapons, but the levels are huge and full of glitches.

Painkiller has little bugs and glitches because its engine relies on Havok physics so much, but Resurrection puts it on steroids. You'll see random flashing boxes on waterfalls, physics-based bridges will spasm uncontrollably, water will reflect inconsistently or not at all, and enemies will spawn into the floor. You can even have level geometry fail to load and get killed by falling into an endless void. Sometimes bosses even rubber band or get insta-killed on loading. The worst performance issue I encountered was huge framerate drops or crazy slowdown, sometimes to the point where I bunny hopped to my death because the game couldn't process a 180 flick of my mouse because it was too overloaded. It literally made the game unplayable for me. The list of wacky bugs goes on and on.

I like what Resurrection ATTEMPTED to do. It tried to mix up Painkiller by making levels huge and non-linear so people could explore them. And honestly, I like those new concepts. It's just that the game is too buggy. If there's an unofficial patch ANYWHERE to fix this game's glaring performance issues, it could be good. As it stands, this isn't worth paying anything for. Just buy the Black Edition of Painkiller instead.. Crashes with the use of any Tarot card which makes progressing seemingly pointless.
Also crashed several times during the first level, just expect the game not to work.
Being there are no real patches or projects to fix this I'm guessing it's not worth the effort.
Shovelware at it's worst.. Okay, let me gat this straight - this is not a good game to play. Damn, it is barely playable at all - loading goes for 10 minutes (versus 1-2 in the original game), sometimes game freezes and slows down. Some triggers don't want to work and you have to run around for another hour to find some little zombie behind some door. Design goes from quite cool to disgracefully awful and gameplay is just ruined - but hey, there is still a good side. Developers had a great idea of making maps REALLY BIG, so somehow I had a feeling of open-world. This is really cool. But technically this game is hell in all aspects, so I don't think that you want it.

About This Game

RW:NW™ is a personal revisitation of the 80s' arcades where I spent most of my pocket money as a kid. It's also my very first solo project after six years of working on much larger team projects.
After all that work on slow pachyderms, I wanted to take a stab at something smaller, faster to make, and granting a more immediate fun.
So, I dusted a gameplay idea I hid in a drawer a couple of years back, I set it up as a 30 minutes-a-day project and started working on it during lunch breaks. When the prototype was welcomed quite enthusiastically by the first testers, I decided to make it real.

Razerwire:Nanowars™ is as a simple little game, quite replayable and with a little nice set of upgrades, achievements and highscores to beat to satisfy the progression geek in all of us.

It is suggested to play with a mouse, but now since version 1.07, Razerwire integrates full controller support as well



If you get to have half the fun playing it as I had making it, I think you'll cherish it!

• Use the mouse to maneuver a monomolecular filament (the RazerWire) to protect your generators and kill the nanobugs assaulting them.
  
• Survive endless waves of attackers with increasing difficulty.
  
• Avoid hits on the Generators.
  
• Use the RazerWire to destroy your enemies.
  
• Use left and right mouse click to activate some powerups (like the Antimatter Blaster and the PowerWave).
